    What is World Escapade?
    A. World Escapade is a Canadian insurance broker specializing in travel insurance. World Escapade is part of APRIL International Canada based in the Province of Quebec, Canada.

    Whom must I contact in the event of a dispute?
    A. Insurers vary by country of origin. In the event of a dispute, please see your insurance policy for instructions.

    Is World Escapade a recognized insurer?
    A. World Escapade is not an insurer; it is a specialized broker that offers coverage in collaboration with partners, including recognized insurers.

    Who provides assistance in the event of a medical emergency?
    A. World Escapade deals primarily with two assistance companies that are recognized for their high standard of quality: Global Excel and IHI Assist. Global Excel has over 400 employees who speak more than 40 languages, while IHI Assist has over 100 employees. You can reach our partners 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no matter where you travel.

    Can I purchase insurance by telephone?
    A. No. World Escapade sells its insurance products online only, so it can offer you very competitive rates.

    What if I require long-term hospitalization?
    A. If you require long-term hospitalization, the assistance centre reserves the right to repatriate you to your country of residence for long-term care. Insurance coverage will terminate upon your return to your country of residence. You will be repatriated only if your life or health will not be endangered.

    I’m currently taking medication. Will I be reimbursed by my insurance?
    A. No. Extended emergency care insurance will pay only for medication needed for a new emergency medical condition. Our insurance does not cover medication for a pre-existing condition or routine care.

    Why are your rates so low?
    A. We minimize costs by selling exclusively on the Internet. Plus, our high volume translates into economies of scale that enable us to reduce your premiums.

    Do you cover baggage?
    A. No, only available in option. World Escapade Basic Cover focuses on medical coverage only. The Non-medical option opens benefits such as Baggage, Personal liability, Personal accident...

    Do you cover expedition, mountaineering and trekking worldwide?
    A. Expeditions, mountaineering and trekking in Antarctica, the North Pole and Greenland are not covered by the insurance.

    Can I purchase insurance after I’ve left my country of residence?
    A. Yes for your travel insurance. Pre-existing medical condition exclusions apply, so please read your policy carefully. Benefits are limited to accidents for the first three (3) days of your travel insurance. Thereafter, the other coverage under your policy will be provided.

    I am from a first country and I live currently in a second one, how to choose the country of residence?
    A. You can choose one of these two countries. But this choice is very important. You may select the country or the region you want to be evacuated in case of medical emergency and where you are covered by your normal individual health insurance.

    I am living abroad, I want to travel to my native country for my holidays, can I be covered?
    A. Yes. If you usually live in a country where you have your regular health plan, and you want to travel to the country you were born or to any other country, you are covered for your trip. In case of repatriation, the assistance will organize a return flight to the country you are living (even if you have not the citizenship of your current home country).

    Can I extend my travel insurance coverage?
    A. Yes. You can easily extend your travel insurance. To extend your insurance, go to the client login and access your file.

    I am sick or I had an accident during my first period of coverage. I want to extend my policy. Am I still covered for the cost of cares for this medical event during the extended insurance period?
    A. No. Any illness or injury which has come into existence, or has shown symptoms, or has been diagnosed in the previous insurance period(s) shall not be covered in the extended insurance period.

    What is the cut-off age for purchasing an insurance policy?
    A. The cut-off age varies depending on the country of residence. Please see your insurance policy.

    I would like to cancel my policy. Is that possible?
    A. No. Our policies cannot be cancelled or refunded for any reason whatsoever.

    How do you determine the cost of an insurance premium?
    A. Premiums depend on several factors, including two major factors: your age and the number of travel days. Since our insurance is sold by the day and not by block of days, you save even more!

    Can I travel to any country with my insurance?
    A. For Canadian resident, you may not travel to countries for which a travel warning advising against all travel has been issued. We recommend that you check this information with the competent authorities. For the other residents, you cannot visit a country listed in "Nosso seguro" page. Our insurance does not cover war risk.

    Do you cover war risk?
    A. No. War risk is not covered by our insurance.

    Do you cover the United States of America?
    A. Yes. We cover the U.S.A. as trip destination. Because of the high costs of medical expenses in this country, we have to adapt our premium with an additional charge.

    Should I precise the list of countries I expect to visit?
    A. No. World Escapade travel insurance is a worldwide coverage. You are insured everywhere except in your country of origin/residence and the countries for which your country of residence has issued a travel warning advising against all travel. In our on-line quotation form, we ask only your country of residence.

    What is the list of excluded countries from your health coverage?
    A. The Worldescapade international health insurance covers you worldwide except Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, West Bank/Gaza, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Yemen, Georgia and Russian Federation (Chechnia, Dagestan, Ingushetia, North Ossetia). Don't forget, your home country is always excluded.

    Does your travel insurance fulfill Schengen visa requirements?
    A. Yes. The benefits of our travel insurance plan is also comprehensive enough to fulfill requirements for the Schengen visa.

    Is your travel insurance insurance a primary insurance?
    A. No. Where there is cover by another insurance policy or healthcare plan, this must be disclosed to the Company when claiming reimbursement. In these circumstances, the Company will co-ordinate payments with other companies and the Company will not be liable for more than its rateable proportion.

    Do you cover search and rescue expenses?
    A. We cover the expenses in connection with a necessary medical evacuation. You are hurt in mountain or at sea, we pay the costs of the normal official rescue teams. If you are just lost in mountain or at sea, the search and rescue expenses are not covered.

    How do I pay for my policy?
    A. You pay online, on our secure Web site. We accept most credit cards.

    In what currency must I pay for my policy?
    A. We accept three (3) currencies: the Canadian dollar, the US dollar and the Euro. The currency is determined based on your country of residence.

    Will I receive my policy in the mail?
    A. No. Worldescapade.com issues its policies online only. Your policy will be e-mailed to you immediately after payment. You’ll be able to access your file though our client login and print your documents at your convenience.

    How can I extend my insurance coverage?
    A. To extend your insurance, go to our client login to access your file and follow the instructions.

    Can I contact World Escapade by telephone?
    A. World Escapade offers no advice or purchase services over the telephone. All product information, including our insurance policies, is available online. If, however, you experience technical problems (e-mail problems or other problems), we’ll be happy to assist you over the phone.

    Can I e-mail World Escapade?
    A. Yes. We reply to all e-mails within a reasonable timeframe.

    Whom do I contact in the event of a medical emergency?
    A. You must immediately contact our assistance centre. This is an important clause in your policy. When in doubt, call the number shown on your assistance card.
