    World Escapade is a brand of Escapade Travel Insurance based in the Province of Quebec, Canada. Escapade Travel Insurance is a Canadian Life and Health Insurance Firm specializing in travel insurance.

    Whom must I contact in the event of a dispute?

    In the event of a dispute, please see your insurance policy for instructions. The underwriter of your insurance contract is identified in the last page of the insurance wording.

    Is World Escapade a recognized insurer?

    World Escapade is not an insurer; it is a brand of a Life and Health Insurance Firm, Escapade Travel Insurance, that offers coverage in collaboration with partners, including recognized insurers.

    Who provides assistance in the event of a medical emergency?

    World Escapade deals primarily with three assistance companies that are recognized for their high standard of quality: Global Excel, Europ Assistance and ihi Assist. All our assistance companies provide a multilingual support. You can reach our partners 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no matter where you travel.

    Can I purchase insurance by telephone?

    No. World Escapade sells its insurance products online only, so it can offer you very competitive rates.

    What if I require long-term hospitalization?

    If you require long-term hospitalization, the assistance centre reserves the right to repatriate you to your country of residence for long-term care. Insurance coverage will terminate upon your return to your country of residence. You will be repatriated only if your life or health will not be endangered.

    I’m currently taking medication. Will I be reimbursed by my insurance?

    No. Medical insurance will pay only for medication needed for a new emergency medical condition. Our insurance does not cover medication for a pre-existing condition or routine care.

    Why are your rates so low?

    We minimize costs by selling exclusively on the Internet. Plus, our high volume translates into economies of scale that enable us to reduce your premiums.

    Do you cover baggage?

    No, only available in option. World Escapade Basic Cover focuses on medical coverage only. The Non-medical option opens benefits such as Baggage, Personal liability, Personal accident…

    Can I purchase insurance after I’ve left my country of residence?

    Yes for your travel insurance. Pre-existing medical condition exclusions apply, so please read your policy carefully. Benefits are limited to accidents for the first three (3) days of your travel insurance. Thereafter, the other coverage under your policy will be provided.

    I am from a first country and I live currently in a second one, how to choose the country of residence?

    You can choose one of these two countries. But this choice is very important. You may select the country or the region you want to be evacuated in case of medical emergency and where you are covered by your normal individual health insurance.

    I am living abroad, I want to travel to my native country for my holidays, can I be covered?

    Yes. If you usually live in a country where you have your regular health plan, and you want to travel to the country you were born or to any other country, you are covered for your trip. In case of repatriation, the assistance will organize a return flight to the country you are living (even if you have not the citizenship of your current home country).

    Can I extend my travel insurance coverage?

    Yes. You can easily extend your travel insurance. To extend your insurance, go to the client login and access your file. The duration must not exceed 365 days (first period of coverage and extended period).

    I am sick or I had an accident during my first period of coverage. I want to extend my policy. Am I still covered for the cost of cares for this medical event during the extended insurance period?

    No. Any illness or injury which has come into existence, or has shown symptoms, or has been diagnosed in the previous insurance period(s) shall not be covered in the extended insurance period.

    What is the cut-off age for purchasing an insurance policy?

    The age limit is 63 years old at the effective date of your travel insurance.

    I would like to cancel my policy. Is that possible?

    Our policies cannot be cancelled or refunded for any reason whatsoever.

    How do you determine the cost of an insurance premium?

    Premiums depend on several factors, including two major factors: your age and the number of travel days. Since our insurance is sold by the day and not by block of days, you save even more!

    Do you cover war risk?

    Yes. War risk is covered by our insurance but you shall not be actively engaging in any acts of war or unrest and you shall not travel to one of the excluded countries. Please contact us if you want to visit these excluded countries.

    Do you cover the United States of America and Canada?

    Yes. We cover the USA and Canada as trip destination. Because of the high costs of medical expenses in these countries, we have to adapt our premium with an additional charge.

    What is the list of excluded countries from your health coverage?

    The Worldescapade international health insurance covers you worldwide except Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, West Bank/Gaza, Somalia, Yemen, Georgia and Russian Federation (Chechnia, Dagestan, Ingushetia, North Ossetia). Don’t forget, your home country is always excluded. If you intend to visit one of the excluded countries, please contact us.

    Does your travel insurance fulfill Schengen visa requirements?

    Yes. The benefits of our travel insurance plan is also comprehensive enough to fulfill requirements for the Schengen visa.

    Is your travel insurance insurance a primary insurance?

    No. Where there is cover by another insurance policy or healthcare plan, this must be disclosed to the Company when claiming reimbursement. In these circumstances, the Company will co-ordinate payments with other companies and the Company will not be liable for more than its rateable proportion.

    Do you cover search and rescue expenses?

    We cover the expenses in connection with a necessary medical evacuation. You are hurt in mountain or at sea, we pay the costs of the normal official rescue teams. If you are just lost in mountain or at sea, the search and rescue expenses are not covered.

    Can I purchase insurance by telephone?

    Yes, World Escapade sells its insurance products by phone too. An administrative fee of $5 or $7 applies.

    What if I require long-term hospitalization?

    If you require long-term hospitalization, the assistance centre reserves the right to repatriate you to your country of residence for long-term care. Insurance coverage will terminate upon your return to your country of residence. You will be repatriated only if your life or health will not be endangered.

    Can I purchase insurance after I’ve left my country of residence?

    No. You cannot purchase the insurance after you have left your province/territory of residence.

    Can I extend my travel insurance coverage online?

    No for the residents of Canada. You cannot extend your travel insurance coverage online. Please refer to section EXTENSION for more détails on how to proceed. Extension may be granted if no claim occurs. Please contact us by phone

    What is the cut-off age for purchasing an insurance policy?

    The cut-off age varies depending on the plan you are purchasing.

    I would like to cancel my policy. Is that possible?

    Yes. Any policy can be cancelled or partly refunded. Policies that include a trip cancellation benefit are not refundable. A cancellation or an early return may be granted if you have not incurred a claim. Please contact us by phone.

    Can I travel to any country with my insurance?

    If you purchase a policy for travel to a region where Foreign Affairs Canada has issued a travel advisory not to travel to that area, but you decide to still travel to that particular area, any claim directly or indirectly related to events outlined in the travel warning would not be covered under the policy. We recommend that you check this information with the competent authorities. For the other residents, you cannot visit a country listed in Our Insurances page. Our insurance does not cover war risk.

    Do you cover war risk?

    No. War risk is not covered by our insurance. Please contact us if you need this specific benefit.

    How do I pay for my policy?

    You pay online, on our secure Web site. We accept most credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Amex).

    In what currency must I pay for my policy?

    We accept three (3) currencies: $CAN, $US and Euro. The currency is determined based on your country of residence.

    Will I receive my policy in the mail?

    No. Worldescapade.com issues its policies online only. Your policy will be e-mailed to you immediately after payment. You’ll be able to access your file though the Client access and print your documents at your convenience.
